IBM is holding a competition to decide which team will come up with the best solution for natural disaster relief.

IBM is calling developers to create a solution for natural disaster relief. The natural disaster could be of many types such as Earthquake, Explosion, Flood, Hurricane, Fire Evacuation, or tornado. The winning team will get an award of $200,000 from IBM to make a prototype and reality and get introduced to venture capitalists. The company’s President and CEO Ginni Rometty on 24th May at the VivaTech Conference 2018 in Paris announced Call for Code, a global initiative that calls on developers to build technology that can be used for natural disaster relief.

Bob Lord, IBM chief digital officer, said in a statement, “At IBM, we harness the power of technologies like AI, blockchain, IoT and cloud to address some of the biggest opportunities and challenges in business, Now, with Call for Code, we are calling on all developers to join us and use these same leading-edge technologies to help people, their communities, and society.”

IBM is currently working with the United Nations Human Rights Office and the American Red Cross pledges to give $30 million over five years to the program. The money will go toward developer tools, technologies, free code and training with experts. Developers can already access IBM resources about data and AI, the blockchain, cloud and IoT technologies.
